Pancreatic Cancer Model

Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant tumor, and its incidence rate is increasing year by year. By establishing an animal model of pancreatic cancer, we can further study the disease. Animal models of pancreatic cancer mainly include: carcinogen-induced model, gene-modified spontaneous tumor model and transplanted tumor model.

Transplanted tumor model: transplant human or mouse primary pancreatic cancer tissue or cells into mice to make them grow into tumor animal models. This method can establish xenograft or syngeneic tumor models.

Each model has its own advantages and limitations, so in practical research, it is necessary to choose a suitable animal model based on specific needs. For example, the transplanted tumor model is easy to establish, but the way of tumor growth in immunodeficient animals is quite different from that in humans. And the gene-modified spontaneous tumor model can simulate the occurrence of pancreatic cancer at the molecular level, but the technical requirements are high and the transgene products are difficult to be precisely controlled.
