In Vivo PK
  Biliary Excretion

Bile is a digestive fluid secreted by the liver, which can help the body digest and absorb fat. After the drug is metabolized in the body, some metabolites will be excreted into the intestine through bile and ultimately excreted from the body with feces.

In biliary excretion assays, researchers administer specific doses of drugs to experimental animals and collect blood and bile samples at different time points to determine the concentrations of drugs and metabolites in the blood and bile. Based on these data, researchers can calculate the rate and degree of drug excretion through bile, and evaluate the importance of it.

Biliary excretion assays can help researchers better understand the metabolism and excretion process of drugs in vivo and provide important basis for preclinical drug development. For example, if a drug is primarily excreted through bile, clinicians may need to consider the patient's liver function and adjust the dosage or regimen according to the patient's situation.
