  In Vitro Permeability Test

In Vitro Permeability Test (IVPT) is an important part in the study of drug delivery systems and relates to the ability to make objective predictions and judgments about the in vivo processes of the delivery system. It can be used to evaluate the release rate of APIs and detect differences in release rates that may arise due to changes in formulation or diversity of API physicochemical properties. For example, the Caco-2 permeability assay provides a measure of the permeability of test compound across the intestinal barrier and its potential to interact with drug transporters.

Transdermal absorption of drugs is one of the key factors in their therapeutic effect. In vitro permeability test can simulate the penetration and absorption process of drugs on the surface of human body, and analyze their transdermal performance parameters which can provide data support for drug development and clinical use.
